Conservation International announces the launch of a seascapes guidebook: "The Seascapes Guidebook: How to Select, Develop and Implement Seascapes." As part of both the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) and the Seascape Program, this guidebook addresses a need identified by the governments of the six CTI-CFF countries – Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, the Solomon Islands, and Timor-Leste – to provide guidance on implementing the Seascapes concept. It is also broadly applicable to inform seascape-scale work around the world. Drawing on over six years of experience and lessons learned from eight seascapes supported by either CI or WCS, CI worked with its partners to create a process for identifying candidate Seascapes, selecting Seascapes for investment, and developing management strategies for the selected Seascapes.
The guidebook will be officially launched this week at the 3rd Ministerial Meeting and 7th Senior Officials Meeting of the CTI-CFF, being held in Jakarta, Indonesia. For more information or to request hard copies of the Guidebook and accompanying Brochure, please contact Niquole Esters at n.esters@conservation.org.
